The journal and its editorial board fully adhere to and comply with the ethical guidelines and policies established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

The editorial board of Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan IPA holds the responsibility of making decisions regarding which manuscripts are accepted for publication. Board members work closely with peer reviewers and carefully consider their evaluations while ensuring compliance with all relevant legal standards, including those related to defamation, copyright violations, and plagiarism. Editorial decisions are made with complete impartiality and are not influenced by the origin of the manuscript, including the author's nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, or religion.

Confidentiality, Disclosure, and Conflicts of Interest

Editors are required to maintain strict confidentiality during the review process, ensuring that manuscript-related information is only shared with the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and other editorial advisors as necessary. Any unpublished content from a submitted manuscript may not be used in the editor’s, reviewer’s, or any other individual’s own research without the explicit written consent of the author. Furthermore, it is essential that readers are informed about the funding sources for the research or scholarly work and the role funders may have played in the study or its publication, if applicable.

Author Relations

Editors are dedicated to providing a fair, unbiased, and timely peer review process. The journal maintains clear policies to manage submissions from editorial board members to ensure impartiality in all cases. Additionally, the journal’s author guidelines clearly define the criteria for authorship, helping maintain transparency and integrity.

Reviewer Relations

Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan IPA encourages reviewers to address any ethical concerns and identify potential misconduct in submitted manuscripts, such as unethical research designs or improper data manipulation. Reviewers are also expected to look for issues such as redundant publication or plagiarism. All reviewer feedback will be shared with the authors in full, except in cases where comments contain offensive or defamatory content. The journal regularly acknowledges its reviewers’ contributions and will cease collaboration with reviewers who consistently provide low-quality, discourteous, or delayed reviews.

Quality Assurance

Editors are responsible for taking all reasonable measures to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and quality of the published material, acknowledging that different sections of the journal may have varied standards and goals. They are also tasked with confirming that research involving human or animal subjects has been approved by the appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board when applicable. Editors must remain vigilant about intellectual property issues and work collaboratively with the publisher to address any legal or procedural concerns. Any errors, inaccuracies, or misleading information that appear in published work must be corrected promptly and transparently.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Reviewers Decisions

The peer review process plays a crucial role in assisting the editor in making informed editorial decisions. In addition, the communication between the reviewers and the authors often serves to improve the quality of the manuscript, providing constructive feedback for revisions.

Promptness
Any reviewer who feels unqualified to assess the research presented in a manuscript or who knows that they are unable to complete the review within the required timeframe should promptly inform the editor and withdraw from the review process.

Confidentiality
Manuscripts submitted for review must be treated as strictly confidential documents. Reviewers must not share or discuss the content of the manuscript with anyone other than the editor, except as explicitly authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted with objectivity and professionalism. Personal criticism of the author is unacceptable, and reviewers are expected to express their opinions clearly and support them with relevant and coherent arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant, previously published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any claim that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by the appropriate citation. Additionally, reviewers should alert the editor to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published work with which they are familiar.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through the peer review process must be kept confidential and must not be used for personal benefit. Reviewers must recuse themselves from evaluating manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors, institutions, or companies associated with the manuscript.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors of original research are required to present an accurate and comprehensive account of the work conducted, along with an objective discussion of its significance. The underlying data should be accurately represented within the manuscript, and sufficient detail and references must be provided to allow others to replicate the work. Any fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and will not be tolerated.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide the raw data associated with their manuscript for editorial review. Where feasible, authors should be prepared to make such data publicly accessible in accordance with relevant data-sharing policies. Additionally, authors should retain such data for a reasonable period following publication.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their manuscript consists entirely of original work. If the work or ideas of others are included, these must be appropriately cited or quoted. Any form of plagiarism is unacceptable.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors must not submit the same research to more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting a manuscript to multiple journals concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is prohibited.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others. All publications that have influenced the nature of the reported research must be appropriately cited.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a substantial contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All individuals who have contributed significantly should be listed as co-authors. Those who have contributed to specific aspects of the research project should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate co-authors are included, that no inappropriate co-authors are listed, and that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and consented to its submission for publication.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

If the research involves hazardous chemicals, procedures, or equipment, these must be clearly identified in the manuscript. Authors must also adhere to ethical guidelines in studies involving human or animal subjects.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors are required to disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project must also be disclosed.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their responsibility to promptly inform the journal editor or publisher and cooperate in retracting or correcting the paper.

Plagiarism Policies

Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan IPA enforces a strict anti-plagiarism policy, prohibiting the use of others' ideas, words, or works without proper attribution. Manuscripts exhibiting any form of plagiarism—whether partial, complete, or involving duplicate or self-publication in any language—will be rejected. Preprints are not considered duplicate publications. The corresponding author is fully responsible for the manuscript during the submission, review, and publication processes and is authorized to represent all co-authors. All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism checks using Turnitin, and those with an unacceptable similarity index will be immediately rejected.

Withdrawal of Manuscripts

Once a manuscript has been submitted, authors are not permitted to withdraw it, as this wastes the time and effort of both editors and reviewers. However, if no updates are received after six months, authors may request withdrawal by notifying the Editorial Board.

Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retraction

Corrections to a published article can only be made with the editor's approval. Minor corrections will be incorporated directly into the original article, while significant corrections will be published alongside the original, with both versions linked and an explanation provided. Retractions will follow the COPE retraction guidelines.

Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any conflicts of interest related to their manuscript, including affiliations with institutions, products, or other entities that could potentially influence the research outcomes. If there are no competing interests, the statement, "The authors declare that they have no competing interests," must be included.

Ethics and Consent for Human, Animal, and Plant Research

All original research involving humans, animals, plants, or biological materials must include a statement of ethics approval. This should provide the name of the ethics committee, the approval number, and confirmation that informed consent was obtained from human participants. For animal research, adherence to international, national, and institutional guidelines is mandatory, with details on the ethical approval process and animal welfare conditions required.

Allegations of Misconduct

Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes the direct copying of text, ideas, images, or data from external sources without proper citation, the reuse of previously published content without permission, or the use of slightly modified ideas from another source without proper attribution. Manuscripts found to contain any form of plagiarism during the peer review process will be rejected, and published papers may be subject to retraction or correction in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Data Fabrication

Data fabrication involves creating or falsifying research results with the intent to mislead. This includes manipulating research data, such as altering images or removing outliers, to present a false or misleading outcome. Such practices are strictly prohibited.

Data Falsification

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscript is not under simultaneous review by another publication. If a duplicate submission is identified, it will be treated as intentional misconduct. For secondary submissions, such as translations, authors must notify the journal and obtain approval from the original publisher and copyright holder, clearly communicating the manuscript’s previous history.

Duplicate Submissions

Authors must confirm that their manuscript is not being considered elsewhere. In cases where a duplicate submission is discovered, it will be deemed a deliberate act of misconduct. Secondary submissions, such as translations, must be disclosed to the journal, and approval must be obtained from the original publisher and copyright holder, with clear documentation of the manuscript’s prior history.

Authorship Issues

The journal establishes clear guidelines for determining authorship and contributions. A transparent process is maintained to manage potential disputes related to authorship, ensuring that credit is given appropriately based on significant contributions to the work.

Citation Manipulation

The inclusion of excessive citations with the sole intent of boosting an author’s citation count or promoting a particular journal constitutes scientific misconduct. Such practices distort the perceived importance of both the work and the journal and are not acceptable.

Suspected Manipulation of Peer Review/Bias in Peer Review

The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the peer review process by carefully selecting reviewers and ensuring they do not have conflicts of interest. The journal adheres to COPE guidelines for managing peer review processes and mitigating potential biases.

Errata and Corrigenda

Changes/Additions to Accepted Articles

All articles published in Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan IPA undergo a comprehensive editorial review process overseen by the editor. If authors wish to make changes or additions to an accepted article, they must submit a formal request to the editor for evaluation. If the additional content is deemed significant enough to be included in the accepted article, it must be submitted as a new manuscript, undergo peer review, and reference the original article. Should the new content replace part of the accepted article, the editor may issue either an erratum or a corrigendum, depending on the nature of the revision.

Erratum
An erratum is issued to correct errors made by the publisher during the production process. These errors are typically identified during the proofing stage and flagged for the author’s review before publication.

Corrigendum
A corrigendum is issued when the author requests a correction after the manuscript has been accepted. The editor will evaluate the significance of the requested correction and decide the appropriate course of action.
