Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo peer review and must meet high standards of academic excellence. Once approved by the editor, submissions are evaluated by peer reviewers, whose identities remain anonymous to the authors and vice versa (Double-blind peer review). The editorial board is responsible for the final decision on the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript, based on the reviewers' recommendations (peer-reviewed process).
Our Research Integrity team may occasionally seek external advice beyond standard peer review for submissions with significant ethical, security, biosecurity, or societal implications. This may involve consulting experts, the academic editor, or additional reviewers with specific expertise, and could include deciding not to pursue a submission further.

The journal is committed to providing a fair and inclusive platform for all researchers in the field of vocational education, without limiting publications to specific topics in the form of special issues.

Appointment of Guest Editors

Guest Editors for special issues are chosen based on their expertise, academic reputation, and prior editorial experience. Nominations for Guest Editors can come from the journal's editorial board, existing editors, or through self-nomination. These nominations are reviewed by the editorial board and approved by the Editor-in-Chief. Guest Editors are responsible for defining the scope of the special issue, drafting the call for papers, managing manuscript submissions, overseeing the peer review process, ensuring the quality and originality of the submissions, and making final decisions on manuscript acceptance in consultation with the Editor-in-Chief.

Setup of Special Issues

Jurnal Pendidikan Vokasi does not have a procedure for setting up special issues. Our policy is focused on publishing regular issues that ensure every accepted article goes through a rigorous peer review process and complies with international standards. As such, we do not set a specific process or timeline for publishing special issues. Our main focus is on providing a consistent and high-quality publication space for research in the field of vocational education.

Editorial and Review Process

Manuscripts for special issues are submitted through the journal's online submission system and initially screened by the Guest Editors to ensure they align with the special issue's scope and meet basic quality standards. Following this, the manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process, with reviewers chosen based on their expertise. Authors revise their manuscripts based on reviewer feedback and may resubmit them for further review if needed. The Guest Editors make recommendations for acceptance or rejection, with final approval granted by the Editor-in-Chief. Accepted manuscripts are then formatted, proofread, and published according to the journal’s guidelines. The journal's distribution channels promote the special issue, and post-publication metrics and feedback are monitored to guide future special issues.

Use of Generative AI and AI-assisted Technologies in Writing

Authors who use AI and AI-assisted technologies in their writing should aim to enhance readability and language, rather than replacing crucial authoring tasks such as generating scientific, pedagogic, or medical insights, drawing scientific conclusions, or making clinical recommendations. The use of such technology should always be supervised and controlled by humans, with all work carefully reviewed and edited. AI can produce content that appears authoritative but may be incorrect, incomplete, or biased. Ultimately, authors are responsible and accountable for the content they produce.
Authors must openly disclose their use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in their manuscripts, with a statement included in the published work to this effect. This transparency builds trust among authors, readers, reviewers, editors, and contributors and ensures compliance with the terms of use for the relevant tools or technologies.
Authors should avoid attributing authorship to AI or listing AI as a co-author, as authorship involves responsibilities and tasks that only humans can fulfil. Each author is accountable for responding to questions about the accuracy or integrity of the work, approving the final version, and consenting to its submission. Additionally, authors are responsible for ensuring the work's originality, confirming that all listed authors meet the authorship criteria, and ensuring that the work does not violate the rights of third parties.

Use of AI in Peer Review

To protect authors' rights and maintain research confidentiality, this journal does not permit the use of Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and similar services, for the peer review process. We are currently assessing AI tools that comply with our standards and may update this policy in the future.
