Abstract

Fenomena secara umum menunjukkan bahwa siswa Sekolah Dasar pada umumnya belum memiliki kemampuan membaca dan memahami teks secara komprehensif. Kemampuan membaca dan memahami teks pada anak-anak Sekolah Dasar merupakan sarana yang sangat mendasar dan penting bagi perkembangan di masa mendatang untuk memburu, menyerap, dan memanfaatkan informasi guna pengembangan ilmu dan teknologi ketika kelak mereka mencapai tingkat pendidikan yang lebih tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas model pembelajaran "K-W-L" untuk menambah kapasitas dan kemampuan siswa sekolah dasar dalam memahami teks secara komprehensif. Disain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah disain eksperimen dengan pendekatan pretest-posttest control group design. Penetapan sampel dilakukan dengan cara stratified proportional area random sampling. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran "K-W-L" sangat efektif untuk menambah kapasitas dan kemampuan siswa Sekolah Dasar dalam membaca dan memahami teks bacaan pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial, tetapi kurang efektif untuk mata pelajaran Matematika dan Sains Dasar.
